Through the effort of the Executive Vice President and Ancillary Director, Dr. Danilo Regozo, a lecture on Psychiatric Emergency and proper handling of patients with Violent and Disruptive Behavior was held last May 14,2025 at APMCI Auditorium.
Dr. Ruel E. Malata, one of best psychiatrists in Iloilo, graced the session as the guest speaker. He emphasized in his lecture that nurses should prioritize their own safety in dealing with clients who are violent or may have a violent tendency. He also stated that a thorough assessment and complete history taking is crucial in management of clients with Psychiatric needs. He wanted to correct the stigma regarding Psychiatric Patients that they have disruptive behaviors as he said “Psych patients are not all violent”.
This gathering was facilitated by the Nursing Service Division Training Department as part of the Professional Development Program. NSD staff and other departments, especially the Safety and Security Personnel participated in the lecture.
